Consultant Pharmacy Clinical Services
One of the most unique assets of Main Healthcare Pharmacy is the exceptional consultant services we provide. We have four pharmacists on staff that have been accredited as "Certified Geriatric Pharmacist(CGP)" and all of our long term care pharmacists maintain membership in the American Society of Consultants. Our medication review process is patient-focused and we strive to tailor each recommendation to the patient's specific needs. As pictured below, our specialized long term care pharmacists work prospectively at the time of dispensing to review appropriate therapy and then at the facility to evaluate outcomes, eliminate unnecessary mediations, and ensure regulatory compliance. Through our medication review process and regular evaluation of medication storage and handling, we are determined to make your facility "deficiency-free". Our Policies and Procedures are customized for each facility. Using reference materials from the American Society of Consultant Pharmacist's product library, our consultant staff will create documents specifically addressing your facility's needs.
We also have a Registered Nurse on staff who is a former long term care Director of Nursing. She is available on a monthly basis to perform medication audits, perform medication pass reviews, and work with your staff as you request. She is a valuable complement to the expertise of our consultant pharmacists.
Our staff is free to utilize all relevant clinical data to optimize outcomes of medications and suggest eliminating  medications when appropriate.this is where true cost savings can be made. Through our organization's close relationship with the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy as a Clinical Rotation site, we access the University's clinical data base for state-of -the-art retrieval of information.
